O que perguntar para a família pretendida?

Esse é um momento muito importante durante o processo de escolha de uma família, pois será a oportunidade de saber como é a vida, a rotina e sobre as regras da família.

Procurando na Internet, achei vários blogs com as mesmas perguntas, então fiz um 'apanhado' das perguntas mais importantes, acrescentei algumas e modifiquei outras.

Segue abaixo as perguntas em inglês (acredito que inicialmente, o seu contato com a família será em inglês - a não ser que você já tenha um ótimo conhecimento em alemão):

ABOUT THE CHILDREN:

1. How many children are there?
2. What are their names?
3. How old are they?
4. Are they walking and talking yet?
5. What do they like to do?
6. What are they favorite games and toys?
7. Are they in the school? How far is the school?
8. How they go to school: by bus, train, car, bike? Am I gonna be supposed to take them to school by car?
9. Are they energetic or calm kids?
10. What do they like to do in their free time?
11. What do they usually eat? (for breakfast, lunch, dinner)
12. Am I be supposed to make dinner?
13. Is there any kind of food that you don’t eat?
14. Do they follow a special diet?
15. Have the kids suffer from any kind of allergies or diseases?
16. What things are there to do with the children? What kind of activities will you expect me to do with the children?

 ABOUT THE PARENTS:

17. What is your names?
18. How old are you?
19. Do they both parents work? Part or full time?
20. Where do you work and what do you do?
21. Do you have any religion?
22. Why are you interested in getting an au Pair?
23. Have you ever had an au pair before? Is she living with you yet?
24. Would you mind if I ask you to talk to her or send her an e-mail?
25. What are your hobbies?
26. Do family members or relatives live nearby?
27. What qualities do you find important in an au Pair? What are you expecting from me?
28. What are the house’s rules?
29. What are the family activities on the weekends?
30. How often do you travel? Is it expected that I travel with you?

ABOUT YOUR HOME:

31. Where are you live? In which state/region? Is a small town?
32. Is it near a big city? Which one? Is the public transport accessible?
33. Is it too cold in the city? Snow there?
34. Do you live in a house or an apartment?
35. Do you have pets? If so, will I have to take care of them?
36. Do you have a housekeeper?
37. What about the au pair’s bedroom, what part of the house is the bedroom located? How is it? Will I have a private room, bathroom?
38. Are there other families with children nearby?
39. Are there any other Au Pairs in the area?

ABOUT THE AU PAIR’S DUTIES:

40. Will I be responsible for any household duties? If so, which ones?
41. What will be my responsibilities with each kid?
42. How often on the week will I be babysitting?
43. What will my schedule be like?
44. When will I have free time?
45. Will I have access to Internet and telephone?
46. Can I receive and make phone calls in your house?
47. Can my family, boyfriend or my friends visit me there?
48. Will I have time to study? When? Can I study when the children are in the school?
49. Are there any German language course near your house?
50. Can I take a shower once a day?
51. What time can I get home during the week and on the weekends?
52. How can I organize my holiday time?

ABOUT THE CAR (se você tiver que dirigir):

53. Will I have permission to use the car? How often? How far?
54. Is a state driver’s license required or can I use my international driver's license?
55. Are there only certain times when I can use the car?
56. Can I use the car in my free time?
57. Will I have to pay for the gas when I use the car?
58. Has the car automatic transmission or manual?

Acho importante fazê-las o mais breve, pois assim você poupa seu tempo e o tempo da família, caso alguma(s) da(s) resposta(s) não te agrade(m), e parte para outra, além de que, são ótimas para você conhecer a família melhor e saber como será sua vida como Au Pair!

Tem quem prefira fazer essas perguntas no contato por Skype, eu prefiro por e-mail, pois fica tudo registrado - e é uma forma de se resguardar, caso você chegue lá e não dê certo com a família, já que a mesma não cumpria o combinado!
